The New York State Office of Children and Family Services Buffalo Regional Office is responsible for registering and monitoring group family child care programs in accordance with the New York State day care regulations.

New York State Licensed Group Family Child Care:

Provides care to children for more than 3 hours per day per child.

Provides care for seven to 12 children not yet school age PLUS 4 school age children. There must be one caregiver for every 2 children under the age of 2.

A provider must use an assistant when more than six children are present.

Provides care in a residential home.
- Group family child care providers must renew their registration. The first renewal is every 2 years, if remaining in compliance; renewal is then every 4 years
